Commissioned in September 2016, our task was to craft a tile mural customized to the client's image – a poignant portrait of the horse Heroic. This masterpiece was designed to honor the hotel's first prize-winning horse, a symbol of the Inglis family's enduring legacy in the world of horse racing.
The dimensions of the mural were carefully calibrated to make a bold statement above the bar area:
Size: 4254mm x 2080mm
Heroic, the original prize-winning horse of the Inglis family, played a pivotal role in establishing their horse breeding empire. Born in 1921 and crossing the rainbow bridge in 1939, Heroic achieved remarkable success, winning 21 races spanning 5 furlongs (1,000 meters) to 2 miles (3,200 meters). Beyond his racing prowess, Heroic became a leading sire in Australia, leaving an indelible mark on the world of thoroughbred racing.
As we embarked on this artistic journey, we were inspired not only by the athletic prowess of Heroic but also by the historical significance he held for the Inglis family. The mural serves as a visual ode to this magnificent horse, capturing the essence of his spirit and the era he represented.
To install this tribute above the bar area, where it would be a focal point for patrons, we went the extra mile – quite literally. A cherry picker was enlisted to reach the towering heights, ensuring that the mural would command attention and provide a captivating backdrop to the hotel's vibrant social hub.
